Crucifix shoes

crucifix shoes

I often come across this photo on different websites and the impact it has on me grows stronger every time. It's not so much about the shoes themselves, it's how they look like they could be worn by a character (not necessarily female) in a strange Jodorowsky film which inspires a string of associations that might end up invading sleep and dreams. Sometimes fashion is the least about fashion ...

I think this photo in particular is quite cool, but the abundance of crosses in fashion kind of annoys me - not in a religious way (I'm an atheist) but because of the faux-goth aesthetic... just really cheeses me off in a way I can't quite describe.

I personally wouldn't wear them. It looks disgraceful to walk on crucifix heels. LIke you're stepping on jesus.

i totally get Jodrowsky connection, and also, this picture is totally iconic, Fellini all the way, with a touch of Almodovar, there's just something so tragic and funny about them, and the tranny-ish legs... i am really enjoying the photographic side of this creation.
i suppose they are metallic in colour? i'm imagining them to look like old polished but still oxidised silver.
wouldn't wear them not because of the religious connection but because they just look so very ouch!
but would love to photograph them.

they really are a work of art, very inspirational

@lilly
Was it telepathy? :)

@annabelle
Fellini was actually the first director I thought of, but was his critique of Catholicism ever as bad as this? ;)
I really like how you "get" the photo as a whole.
