Raffaella Curiel exhibition in Trieste

After Trieste hosted a wonderful retrospective of designer Mila Schön titled Mila e la notte (Mila and Night) last spring, the string of fashion-related events continues with an exhibition dedicated to Raffaella Curiel (Arte e moda), another designer of dashing wit and Trieste origin. She began her career training at Balmain in Milan many, many years ago and her specialty is intertwining fashion with literature and other art forms; she's taken inspiration from artists such as Van Gogh, Marcel Proust and Gustav Klimt.

Homage to Klimt.

Jacket entirely covered in sequins.

This is my all-time favorite way to display cleavage and I find it nothing short of awesome that it was copied from an Egyptian statue. The dress is so breathtaking in real life that I think not even red carpet at Cannes, Venice or the Oscars would do it justice.

Gloves with "transparent" fingers & mesh and PVC shoes. These items are actually decades old, it's just that trends like to repeat themselves a lot.

The exhibition is located at Palazzo Costanzi, Piazza Piccola 2, Trieste, and closes on July 18

Thank you for sharing these. Exhibits about clothing are my favorites. That Egyptian dress is exquisite. As a red carpet dress I don't think the mainstream media would even "get" it.

I wish I could go to this! These are all such wonderful works of art. That gold dress, in particular, is incredible.

WOW! Love the idea of combining dresses with drawings. It is clear that both are art.
